You can scan the barcodes of your products to quickly add them to the register when completing a transaction. To enable this feature, you need to go to
Point of Sale > Settings > Scanning and check the box labelled
The barcode scanning facility uses the SKU of the product to search and find the scanned product. When this feature is enabled, the register will listen to barcode scans and if there is a matching SKU, the product will be added once i.e. you would need to scan twice if you want to add two. Alternatively, you can turn on the
Quantity Increment to display a modal window for quantity, this can be turned on from
Point of Sale > Settings > Tiles.
Custom scanning fields
You can set the barcode scanning feature to search and find a product using a different field other than the default SKU. It must be a custom field in the products page as shown below:
Recommended barcode scanners
At Actuality Extensions, we test our barcode scanning feature with the Urovo S700 barcode scanner, however, barcode scanners are generic hardware which is no different to a keyboard. It simply scans a code, and pastes the text with a return key at the end. Some barcode scanners have different commands after they paste the text i.e. a dash or a comma or a colon.
